The fires are over but help is even more needed than before: some 200 000 hectares of forest and farmyards have been destroyed and 130 villages disappeared. The EU will release 600 million euros for reconstruction in Greece; 200 million euros from the EU Solidarity Fund and additional 400 million from regional funds.
