24-mln-Euro EuroparlTV draws 120.000 viewers, report says

Wow! A real 120.000 viewers, on a population of 500 million, have tuned into EuroparlTV since it launched last year, according to a report in Germany’s Welt Online. Costs up to 2010: 24 million euros.

So far, that’s 200 euro per viewer. No, that’s unfair… Let’s triple these viewing figures to include 2009 and 2010… It would be about 65 euro per viewer. Is that the cost-per-viewer ratio the parliament was expecting from a WebTV project?

EUX.TV has generated more than 2 million video views since its launch in 2006. Costs: a fraction of what EuroparlTV got, plus a lot of frustration over how Brussels favors subsidized EU projects that try to compete with an independent project like ours. The cost-per-viewer for EUXTV is somewhere around 5 cents, a quick calculation shows.
