Dutch FM twittering from Afghanistan conference

Using Twitter, Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen is reporting live from inside the international Afghanistan conference in The Hague today. Verhagen is known as an avid user of his iPhone, having gotten into a bit of trouble with the Dutch Prime Minister recently over a picture he took during a cabinet meeting.

Verhagen’s tweets are in Dutch. From the Afghanistan conference, Verhagen is sending about one tweet per hour. His most recent one: “Speeches are running long, so I’m asking all speakers to be concise.”

EUX.TV at YNEM 2009 in Valencia

EUX.TV founder Raymond Frenken will join European media colleagues and young journalists from across Europe at the Youth & New Media Conference near Valencia, between the 7th and 9th of May.

The ‘YNEM 2009′ conference, organized by the team behind Europocket.tv, will host as logo_web1000speakers a wide range of media professionals from the likes of Euronews, Sky News, Deutsche Welle, EUObserver.com, and other organizations to discuss the future of media in Europe.

Based on his experience with EUX.TV, Frenken, described by the YNEM 2009 organizers as ‘Brussels media guru’, will share some of his insights into what it takes to set up a web tv channel and will host a seminar on how to produce journalistic video reports using a new generation of easy-to-use HD digital cameras.

Newropeans launches EU2009 campaign in the Netherlands

Newropeans, a pan-European political movement that seeks to create a more democratic and more accountable European Union, on Thursday launched its campaign in the Netherlands for the European elections in June.

The Dutch campaign is led by Arno Uijlenhoet. In his first speech as a politician, he outlines the vision of Newropeans on the European Union and discusses the changes that the party hopes to achieve.

Newropeans expects to take part in the European elections thi year in between six and eight member states of the EU.
