The European Solar Days 2009 will take place between May 15 and May 22, with more than 5000 events throughout Europe, two industry associations have announced.
The European Solar Days aim at raising awareness on solar energy (both solar thermal and solar photovoltaic) showing to the general public that these technologies are a real alternative to conventional energy sources and a solution for tackling Climate Change and improving our energy security.
Created in Austria in 2002 and progressively expanded to other EU countries, the European Solar Days are particularly popular in Germany, France and Italy. In 2008, over 4,000 different events were organised in 13 European countries, gathering more than 250,000 participants.
