Protesting MEPs Want More Women in EU Leadership

A group of female MEP dressed on ‘suits and ties’, from several groups and EU nationalities, have raised their voice and their CV to see more women candidates for top EU positions. As regards the new Commission, all of them agree on the fact that they would not accept a Commission with less than 35% of women, so they ask President Barroso to put pressure on member states and get more women in the College. :00’05”External shots at the Council building, sculpture ‘Europa’s abduction’, Brussels 0:00’10”MEPs Diana WALLIS and Pervenche BERES walking and answering media, Diana WALLIS: ‘We expect a women or two women somewhere in the mix (question about top-post female candidates) There is Ms Vike-Freiberga, and sure there are other women out there 0:00’34”Close-up on tie 0:00’37”MEP Pervenche BERES 0:00’40”Close-up on tie 0:00’43”MEPs Diana WALLIS and Pervenche BERES being interviewed 0:00’46”MEP Rebeca HARMS answering to media 0:00’51”MEP Marije CORNELISSEN 0:00’58”MEPs Franziska KELLER and Karima DELLI, in French: ‘We are here today, no matter the party or the political views, we are two young new members of the EP, from the Green party and we want to ask for these equality men-women that we find in the EU texts but very rarely in reality; we ask for more women on EU top posts’ – Pan to CV document 0:01’28”MEP Emilie TURUNEN, with a drawn moustache on her face, being interviewed 0:01’32”Tie, close up 0:01’34”MEP being interviewed by media 0:01’38”MEP Isabelle
