For the first time ever, the European Council released video footage from inside a summit between the presidents and prime ministers of the 27 countries in the European Union. The footage only showed the introduction by EU Council President Herman van Rompuy, and did not show any of the contributions by those at the table, such as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German chancellor Angela Merkel. The meeting discussed the highly controversial topic of financial support to Greece. Although France and Germany proposed a bailout, countries like Sweden and the Netherlands oppose the idea of sending cash to Athens.
