European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council president Herman van Rompuy were among those representing the 20 biggest industrialized countries on Sunday at the G20 summit in Toronto, Canada. As the official part of the summit wrapped up, Toronto police announced that more than 600 protesters had been arrested in a crackdown on anarchist groups. The communique agreed by leaders of the world’s major economies at the G20 summit in Toronto will amount to an endorsement of government decisions to rein in state spending, Chancellor George Osborne has said, the UK Press Association reported on Sunday.
