Van Rompuy: EU ‘really was present’ at G8 talks in Canada: interview

Analysing the 2010 G8 summit in Muskoka, Canada, European Council President Herman van Rompuy said that the European Union “really was present” at the top-level meeting of the biggest industrialised countries. Van Rompuy, who attended a G8 summit for a first time, was joined at the table by Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission. In this interview, distributed by the European Council’s audiovisual services after the summit, Van Rompuy takes stock of the meeting and compares it to the the regular summits in Brussels, where 27 heads of state and government sit at the same table.
