EU’s Piebalgs: Development aid must boost growth, not cut poverty

Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, opened the “Partnership Africa – New horizons for EU and Inter-African cooperation” International Policy Summit this morning (27 Sept) in Brussels. Using the occasion to speak about development aid to Africa, Mr Piebalgs stressed that aid must incite growth, rather than simply to offset poverty.
