Today the EP President participated in the opening of the “Renewable Energy Sources” Conference. Later in the morning he crossed the Green line into the Turkish Cypriot part and met Turkish leaders such as Mr Derviş Eroğlu, Leader of the Turkish-Cypriot Community and Mr Ferdi Soyer, Leader of the Republican Turkish Party. Background Using the occasion to speak about a resolution to the Cyprus / Turkey dispute, Mr Buzek urged openness in discussion and an eventual resolution between the Greeks and Turkey over the disputed and divided Cyprus.
