Barroso: Collapse of EU budget talks blow to Europeans

In a statement read out by his spokesman, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso deplores the collapse of negotiations on the European Union’s budget for 2011, saying that as a result of this many regions, people and other organizations will not be able to take on projects as planned for 2011. The UK, the Netherlands and Sweden were among the countries responsible for the collapse of the EU budget talks, even though the European Parliament was willing to accept an increase of 2.9 percent, instead of the 6 percent that was initially requested.
