Barroso meets Rwanda’s Kagame, Zimbabwe’s Tsvangirai

Brussels, December 6th 2010. – European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Monday met with leaders of two African countries, Paul Kagame, the hard-line President of Rwanda, and Morgan Tsangirai, of Zimbabwe. Both African politicians were in Brussels for the EU’s Development Days. Several hundred protesters from the Rwandese diaspora took to the streets on Saturday and Monday to protest Kagame’s visit. They hold Kagame responsible for the lack of political freedom the country where some 900.000 people were killed in the 100-day genocide by Hutu’s and Tutsi’s in 1993.
