Ashton on Egypt: Army must be guardians of democratic process

In her most recent statement on Egypt following Hosni Mubarak’s departure as Egyptian president, EU High Representative Catherine Ashton called on the army to be guardians of the people, to allow an orderly transition to democracy, and offered Europe’s support and help in Egypt’s democratic transition period.
