EU’s Patent Office warns ‘EU losing out to China, Korea’

In the context of the current political discussion on the creation of a common European patent system, Oswald Schöder from the EPO explains in this interview how the current patent system works and how important patents are to foster the competitiveness of European industries. He warns however that the emerging technology developing countries such as China, and Korea are overtaking Europe in terms of patenting important technologies.
