EU Commission smashes ‘washing powder cartel’, imposing 315 million fine

Joachim Almunia has this week announced the imposition of a 315 million euro fine for a ‘washing powder’ cartel run by Proctor and Gamble, Unilever, and Henkel. The former two will bear the brunt of the fines as Henkel escapes punishment having brought the cartels’ practice to the Commissions attention, although both didi receive a 10% reduction for admitting the charges, and speeding up the process.
