“The countries of South Eastern Europe belong in the European Union.” During his visit from 7 – 9 April, President Barroso met with the leaders of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the FYROM, as well as civil society representatives. He said: “The countries of South Eastern Europe belong in the European Union. It is for the countries themselves to determine the pace of their European future. I will encourage the leaders in the region to accelerate the reforms and tackle the challenges and conditions with renewed vigour. Now is the time to deliver.”
