E-Commerce: On the way to a Digital Single Market? Interview with Detlef Eckert

2011 is a crucial year for E-commerce, the EU Commission is planning to adopt a Communication on e-commerce in the early summer, as e-commerce and e-signature directives come up for revision. Commissioner Nellie kroes Digital Agenda aims to create a thriving digital economy by 2020, powered by a strong digital market. This important topic was the focus of a Euractiv workshop ‘On the way to a Digital Single Market’: speakers included The Dirtector of the Lsbon Strategy -Detlef Eckert, Head of Online services at DGMARKT Werner Steng, Visa Europe’s senior Vice-President Sandra Alzetta, Bob Schmitz of the EU Councel, Union Luxembourgoise des Consommateurs, and Stefan Krawczyk, senior director and Counsel Government relations for Ebay.
